Dwelling on the past is not the way I wish to live my life. I try to use past experiences to make the future better for me and my family. But during my spinning class today, the instructor played the rap song Captain of the Cool Kids. So, that got me to thinking…if I could go back to high school and college, I wish I would have been a social pusher, or I wish it […]
ACHE members who are employed by health systems often show a lack of understanding regarding their hiring of physicians away from private practice models. There is also a general misunderstanding that physicians want the Medicare Sustainable Growth rate to continue; physicians want s better formula, but absent that, physicians want to ensure their cash flow does not take a roller coaster ride due to short term acts of Congress.
I am outraged at a new policy endorsed by local city Louisville Metro Council members, which can be found at this link as published in The ‘Ville Voice. Here’s why: IP&L officials recently told me that a vast number of the abandoned houses with tall weeds are foreclosures owned by out of state mortgage companies. The Board found that JBS was operating illegally, however they determined that no punishment was necessary. So, how does that translate to enforcement of other local laws, statutes and ordinances? Established medicine, such as the American Medical Association and Medical Group Management Association agreed to support HR 3962 when it eliminated the biggest flaw in physician funding to date – Medicare’s Sustainable Growth Rate formula. At the last moment, however, the language to eliminate SGR got pulled out and put into it’s own bill […]
I am passionate about many things including health care policy, rental real estate and design of objects ( roads, cities, and all sorts of consumer goods). However, I will start by telling you about the subtitle of my blog “On time and correct change.” These wise words are paraphrased from a physician who gave a great start to my career in healthcare administration, and is frankly, someone to whom I owe a great deal of respect and […]
